The 11th European Conference on Nutrition will take place on the 26th, 27th, 28th and 29th October in Madrid, at the Madrid Convention Centre. The European Nutrition Conference is a meeting which is organized every four year by the Federation of European Nutrition Societies. The event will welcome 2000 experts and host about 200 lectures. This year’s conference focus has been placed on achieving free access to healthy diets and, above all, to appropriate education on nutrition.
A special Symposium, supported by “Beer & Health”, will be hold on Friday, the 28th October 2011, from 5.30 to 7.30 pm, in Room 8, about how moderate consumption of beer may contribute to a healthy diet. This Symposium, entitled “Beer: Cheers to your health!”, will be chaired by Dr. Ramon Estruch, from the Department of Internal Medicine at the Clinic Hospital, University of Barcelona. Welcome to the 6th Beer and Health Symposium: From myths to science

I have the pleasure of inviting you to the 6th European Beer and Health Symposium 2011 entitled “Beer and Health: From myths to science,” which will be held on Tuesday 20 September 2011 at the Bibliothèque Solvay in Brussels.

Beer is Europe's convivial drink, a beverage steeped in European history, tradition, and craftsmanship, and brings people together like no other. During this Symposium the various speakers will guide you through the interesting world of beer; from ingredients, to myths, to science.

An overview will be given by prominent European scientists on the current state of knowledge regarding the health benefits of moderate consumption of beer, and it’s role in an adult’s healthy lifestyle. Presentations will be followed by lively panel discussions.  At the end of the day we hope you will leave with a broader understanding of how beer can contribute to a healthy lifestyle.

I look forward to welcoming you in Brussels!

Warmest regards,

Prof. Frans J. Kok
Head of the Division of Human Nutrition
Wageningen University, The Netherlands
